ave done, that there is much to deny, much to er, and much to do; and you will see, that re is no power or virtue but in the Light, Spirit, ace, and Truth of Christ, to carry you through world to God's glory, and your everlasting peace. Yea, you will see what religion is from above, and at is from below; what is of God's working, and at of man's making and forcing; also, what minry is of his Spirit and giving, and what of man's dying, framing, and imposing. You will, I say, scern the rise, nature, tokens, and fruits of the true ɔm the false ministry; and what worship is spiritual, id what carnal; and what honour is of God, and what at honour is, which is from below of men, yea, llen men, that the Jews and the world so generally ove, and which is spoken against in John v. 44; you ill see the vain and evil communication that corupts good manners; the snares of much company nd business; and especially the danger of the riendship of this present evil world. * * * * * * Having thus expressed myself to you, my dear children, as to the things of God, his truth and kingdom, I refer you to his Light, Grace, Spirit, and Truth within you, and to the Holy Scriptures of Truth without you, which from my youth I loved to read, and were ever blessed to me, and which I charge you to read daily; the Old Testament for history chiefly, the Psalms for meditation and devo tion, the Prophets for comfort and hop pecially the New Testament for doctrine worship; for they were given forth by h God in divers ages, as they were moved ly Spirit; and are the declared and reve and will of the Holy God to mankind un dispensations; and they are certainly ab the man of God perfect, through faith, tion; being a clear and true testimony to tion that is of God, through Christ, t Adam, the Light of the world, the quicker who is full of Grace and Truth; whose Lig Spirit, and Truth, bear witness to them sensible soul, as they frequently, plainl lemnly bear testimony to the Light, Spir and Truth, both in himself, and in and to to their sanctification, justification, redem consolation, and in all men to their visit proof, and conviction, in their evil way having thus expressed myself in general, I my dear children, to the Light and Spiri that is within you, and to the Scriptures without you. ■ tutir own preasts: they are known to be the way f life, divine life to the soul. This something, though they know not what it is, at checks them in secret for evil, both before and fter they yield to temptation; warning them beforeand not to touch or taste, and afterwards condemnng them if they do so; and inwardly inclining them a life of religion and virtue; this is the very thing, ear young people, whereby God worketh in you, to will and to do; and by which he will, if you cleave Ɔ it, and work with it, enable you to work out your wn salvation with fear and trembling before him. Despise it not, do no violence to its motions; love cherish it, reverence it, hearken to its pleadings with you; give up without delay to its requirings, nd obey its teachings. It is God's messenger for good to thy immortal soul: its voice in thy streets, s truly the voice of the living God:-Its call is a kind invitation to thee, from the throne of Grace. Hear it, and it will lead thee; obey it, and it will ave thee from the power of sin and Satan; it will inally lead to an inheritance incorruptible in the mansions of rest, the house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.-J.
