Trang i - Cocaius, was issued at Venice in 1517. The real name of this author was Teofilo Folengi (descended from a noble family in Mantua), afterwards a Benedictine monk. He was born in 1491, and died at his Priory, near Bassano, in 1544. The complete title of his book, as in the edition of 1521, is — " Opus Merlini Cocaii, Poetae Mantuani Macaronicorum. Totum in pristinam formam per me Magistrum Acquarium Lodolam optime redactum, in his infra notatis titulis divisum.
