Suddenly, at his lordship's houfe in Curzon-treet, May-fair, Mary countefs Verney, the lady of Ralph earl Verney, one of the daughters and coheirs of Henry Herring, efq, of London and Egham, merchant and bank-director, and aunt to fir Robert Clayton, bart. She was born February 4, 1716, and married to his lordship September 11, 1749.

Dying without iffae, his eftate, which is very confiderable, and has been in the family for many centuries, devolves to his next brother, Valentine Knightley, efq.

February. In Park-lane, after a long and painful illness, in the 24th year of her age, the lady of fir Charles Rofs, bart. member of parliament, to whom the was married about three years fince. She was countefs of the Roman empire, and eldest daughter of the late general James Count Lockhart, of Lee, who died at Pifa, in Tufcany, in February, 1790.

At his feat at Wentworth-caftle, in the county of York, the right honourable William Wentworth, earl of Strafford, viscount Wentworth, of Wentworth Woodhouse, baron of Stainborough, baron Raby, Newmarch, and Overfley, and a baronet. He was born in November, 1712; was lineally defcended from the younger brother (fir William) of Thomas the celebrated earl of Strafford, beheaded in 1641; in whofe fon all the titles failed, except the barony of Baby, but were revived in Thomas eldeft fon of fir William, 1711 (10 Anne), who died 1739, leaying iffue the late earl, who married, April 28, 1741, Anne, fecond daughter and coheir of John Campbell, late duke of Argyle, who died February 7th, 1785. but had no iffe. His lordship dying without iffe, the titles of earl of Strafford fake.

At Hampton-court, Anne countefs dowager Ferrers (relict of Wathington earl Ferrers, vice-admiral of the blue) and aunt to Robert the prefent earl Ferrers, to whom a confiderable jointure devolves by her death. Her ladythip has been a widow fince October 1ft, 1778, when her lord died at Chartley-caftle, and was buried at Staunton-Harold. Dying without iffue, he was fuccceded by his brother Robert; and he, in 1787, by the prefent earl, his fon and name

At his houfe in Curzon-freet, May-Fair, aged 78, Ralph earl Verney in the kingdom of Ireland, one of the reprefentatives for the county of Buckingham. His countefs died January 20. Sir John Verney, baronet, of a very antient family in the county of Bucks, in 1703 was created, by queen Anne, baron Belturbet and viscount Fermanagh in Ireland. He had one fon, Ralph, (who fucceeded him in 1717) and three daughters, one of which married fir Thomas Cave, of Stanford-hall, baronet; another married col. John Lovett. This Ralph was created earl Verney in the kingdom of Ireland in 1743, and died in 1752. He had two fons: 1. John, who on July 2, 1736, married Mifs Nichols. He died in June following, his wife being then with child of a daughter, who is now living. Ralph, who on September 11, 1740, married the daughter of Henry Herring, efquire of Mincing-lane. December 9, 1741, Richard Calvert, efquire brother to alderman Calvert, married Mrs. Verney, the widow of John Verney. She died about two years ago. The laft earl had no iffue, fo that the titles are extinct.

At Antrim-houfe, in Merrionfquare, Dublin, the most noble Randall William M'Donnell, marquis, earl, and baron Antrim, viscount Dunluce, one of his majesty's moft honourable privy council, governor of the county of Antrim, knight of the bath, a baronet, and grand-mafter of antient mafons in England. He was born November 4, 1749; fucceeded his father, October 13, 1775; married, July 3, 1774, Letitia Trevor, daughter of Harvey lord viscount Mountmorres, relict of the honourable Arthur Trevor, fon of Arthur lord viscount Dungannon: by whom he has left iffue Anne-Catherine, and Letitia-Mary, both born Auguft 11, 1778, on whom the earldom and vifcounty are entailed by patent, May 2, 1785. His lordfhip was created a marquis in August 1789.

In Derbyshire, in his 43d year, fir William Fitzherbert, of Tillington-hail, in that county, baronet, one of his majefty's juftices of the peace for the faid county, and recorder of the borough of Derby;

in which office he is fucceeded by John Balguy, efq. of Duffield. He was the eldest brother of lord St. Helens, ambaffador at Madrid, and married a daughter of baron Perryn. At Hamburgh, after a few days illness, in her 69th year, her ferene highness the duchefs-dowager of Mecklenbourg Schwerin.

Auguft. At Valenciennes, John Byron, efq. eldest fon of the late honourable admiral Byron, born February 7, 1755. He married lady Conyers, after her divorce from the prefent duke of Leeds, 1779.

At his houfe in Sloane-ftreet, Benjamin Jennings, efq. hufband to the vifcountefs dowager Dudley and Ward.

At his feat of Gnoll-castle, in Glamorganfhire, fir Herbert Mackworth, baronet, F. R. S. one of the vice-prefidents of the marine fociety, colonel of the Glamorganfhire militia, and member in the laft parliament for Cardiff, as was his father (who died August 20, 1765) in 1739. He was created a baronet August 24, 1776.

October. At Tormantine-house, in Scotland, lord Haddo. The unfortunate accident which occafioned his death is very fingular. After handing lady Haddo and her fifter into her poft-chaise, to go to attend the Aberdeen races, which commenced next day, his lordship had juft mounted his horse, and in leaning forward, the animal ftruck him a violent blow with his head on the cheft, which ftunned him fo much that he fell. His groom immediately ran to his affiftance, and in a few minutes he was fo far recovered as to be able again to mount his horfe with apparent eafe; but before he had proceeded a few yards, the fervant perceived him to be feized with a fudden giddinefs, and he fell to the ground motionlefs.
